This article from the Leatherneck archives tells the story of 2nd Bn, 1st Marines, atop a peak of Marble Mountain where they served as the “eyes” for U.S. forces in Da Nang. Their primary mission was to spot enemy rocket sites aimed at Da Nang and provide observation support for Marine ground and artillery units.
