The last northern Virginia area MCAF luncheon of the 2009 professional events season was held on 5 November at the Springfield Hilton Hotel. Well attended, the luncheon featured Major General Robert E. Schmidle, USMC, Assistant Deputy Commandant for Programs and Resources as the guest speaker. In honor of the proximity to the Marine Corps Birthday on 10 November, the luncheon included a brief birthday cake cutting ceremony as well. Following desert, MajGen Schmidle addressed the audience on the subject of the Quadrenial Defense Review.
